Theme
I think the Theme of the book Go Ask Alice , is that Alice is very addicting to drugs. And she can't control herself. She had many chances over the years to stop this addiction, but she never did. She never realized why she couldn't stop..... she had her family and a few friends there for her. Which is really disappointing for me. And the sad thing is she always claimed she was going to stop using drugs.... but she kept on going. She could've stopped but Alice couldn't do it alone. I guess all she needed was a "reality check" or help . I hope for all those teenagers out there. who been through this, get help and stop this drug abuse.

When i was reading Go ask Alice, it reminded me about teenagers in our modern time who still take drugs. 100,000's of teenagers all over the world take drugs and have a drug overdose. Some take drugs and have an addiction. Others take it and mess up their lives. It's not very good to take them even when your very young age. People of all ages, but mostly young teenagers should do better things than getting high. They should go and pursue their dreams. Cause they are our future.

In this quote Alice was caught using drugs. She was very scared, worried, and also relieved. She never thought in her in tire life she would be caught using drugs and be on probation. It shows how thankful and lucky she is. She realizes there are more to life than getting high and ruining your life. She is thankful for her parents always being on her side and never giving up on her. I chose this important quote because it shows how Alice's life will change and will start off her new life "the right way." It will give her new opportunities to do. She will actually learn the mistakes she did in the past. I hope she changes soon........ if not she will ruin her life even more. I predict after all this happened to her, she would finally make a change in her life.

Home Sweet Home
"This morning Chis left early to go to the wholesalers and was listening to the stereo while I cleaned up the showcases............. Chris can have the whole shop and we should be fairly well established by then, or maybe she'll want to go home with me, but i won't even mention it for a while." Pg.82
After going to San Francisco with Chris and having to live the "real life." She realized she cannot bare to see her family. She dearly misses them. It's been months , she hasn't seen them. But it was the right thing to do to get off this addiction. The reason why I chose this quote is because it shows how Alice been very lonely lately. She been thinking about her family a lot. She finally decided to go back home and spent time with them for Christmas. But the problem is that she doesn't want to leave Chris by herself. The whole point to go to San Francisco is to start a new life, but i guess that wasn't going to happen. I predict Alice will take Chris home with her and spent Christmas together as a family. (,:

Something So Bad....Feels So Good.
" Gramp's house was dark when we got home, and Jill helped me to my room, out of my clothes and into my bed, and I drifted off into a seasick type of sleep, wrapped in a general sense of well-being, except for a slight headache that probably was the result of long and intense laughing. It was fun! It was ecstatic! It was glorious! But I don't think I'll ever try it again. I've heard too many frightening stories about drugs."Pg.34
After the party finished, Alice found out she drank coke with LSD in it. She felt shocked, scared but also relieved. And for some reason she felt happy/excited about this incident. She was actually glad this happened to her. For the first time ever Alice felt free,relaxed, and worried free. But at the same time she was very concern, she new what were the consequences for this action. The reason why i chose this important quote is because this incident will affect Alice's life and actions in the future. It will show if she is an addict or not.I predict Alice will some how , get back into this drug and will not stop using it.

The RIGHT thing to do.
"Chris and I sat around the park all day thinking things over ........ Its just that I've got to do someting to protect all those grade and junior high school kids." pg.63
After their dicussion, Chris and Alice decided to quit using drugs and start fresh. By going to San Francisco and get new jobs. But first Alice wants to turn in Richie for possetion of drugs. She feels angry, sad, betrayed of how Richie could ever do that to her. She feels turning in Richie to the police would be the right thing to do.It would help those little kids and herself have better life. I think going away for a while would help her get away from drugs. But she's not doing this alone. She has Chris.....one of the few people she trully do trust and depend on. A True Friend......
"Beth is a wonderful friend. I guess she's the only "Best" friend I've had since i was very little girl.........I wish i knew more about my own religion so I could tell Beth."pg.24
It's nice to see Alice meet a nice girl to relate to. Someone who can she depend on, always be there with and hang out with. I guess Alice never really had someone to trust with. Beth is actually Alice's BEST friend. She such a wonderfil girl. After Alice having hard time fitting in and finding friends in her new school, she finally found someone in common. This shows how Beth changed her and Alice's lives. They both have many things in common.....they both discuss about their religion, of how Beth is religious of being jewish. Alice actually learns many things with Beth. I predict Beth and Alice will have a stronger friendship. And have many crazy wonderful adventures together.
